On The Issues
Our nation suffers from a lack of national defense and foreign policy leadership. And in Utah, no one from our current congressional delegation served in the Armed Services. As the only candidate in this race who has put on the uniform, no one can match the experience or knowledge that I will bring to Congress on Day 1. In today’s world our national security is too important to receive secondary consideration - it demands our attention. Having served as an officer in the Utah Army National Guard, including deployment to Iraq, I will focus on the rising threats to our country, advocate for our veterans, and promote a strong national defense.
National Defense & Security
I am a firm believer that the powers not expressly delegated to the federal government belong to we the people and to the individual states. Today, we have a federal system that controls much more than was ever intended…or wanted. With the power of the purse, Congress has not only the ability - but a duty - to prevent overreach by federal agencies, programs and employees. As your representative I will vote against continual federal encroachment in our lives and return power to the states, where the government can best be held accountable.

My wife, Misha, and I are the proud parents of four beautiful children. We’ve experienced firsthand the immeasurable happiness kids bring into our lives and can attest to the awesome power and responsibility of bringing life into this world. Our oldest daughter was born with a significant disability, and yet she has brought nothing but joy and light into the world. She has served a mission, married and enrolled in college. As a result we are proudly pro-life and support the Supreme Court’s decision that allows the states, not the federal government, to legislate this issue. As your representative, I will always support the pro-life movement.
Pro-Life
The crisis at the Southern border is no longer contained to border states, it is an issue that demands federal action. We are a nation of laws and it’s past time we acted like it. Illegal crossings, drug smuggling and human trafficking must be stopped. At the same time, we must have greater respect for those that choose to legally enter, work and pay taxes, and assimilate. As your representative I will strongly support border enforcement policies and the agents and communities defending the border.
Immigration
Every day, Congress saddles future generations - our children and grandchildren - with millions of dollars of debt and shows no signs of stopping. In fact, we are currently adding a billion dollars per month to the national debt. Our total disregard for fiscal responsibility threatens our safety, security and the hope of the American Dream. As your representative, I will introduce and promote a balanced budget amendment during each and every year I am in Congress until we finally address our nation’s fiscal insanity. I will cut spending from areas where the federal government has no business being involved and streamline our bloated federal bureaucracy.
Fiscal Responsibility
I believe technology and private sector development, not federal mandates or regulations, will lead us to cleaner and cheaper energy. Instead of picking winners and losers, the government needs to allow the free market to thrive. President Biden has imposed onerous regulations that have reduced supply, thereby increasing costs on American families. As your representative, I will vote to reverse these backward policies and work to enact an energy plan that focuses on promoting all sources of energy, including nuclear.
Energy Dominance
On this Democrats and Republicans agree: Joe Biden’s economy is crippling hardworking, middle class Americans. Instead of creating jobs, Democrats in Congress are more worried about what they can regulate next and how to take more of our money. While unemployment rates were at record lows prior to this Administration, inflation reached its highest point in 40 years under the current Administration. The pandemic is no longer an excuse for Biden’s failed policies - it is clear he does not know how to get our nation back on track. As your representative, I will support small businesses, less regulation, lower taxes and allow for American ingenuity to flourish once again.
Economic Prosperity
Utahns love their public lands for hiking, biking and skiing, and so does the Peay family. But without the ability to manage our own land, our access to recreation is at the mercy of the federal government. As our state continues to grow, the fact that the federal government controls more than 60 percent of all land within the State of Utah will become even more problematic. As your representative, I will fight for local control and management of our public land while also protecting our access rights for public recreation and enjoyment.
